Kathrein has opened a new office in Mexico City to steer future activities in Latin America. The opening was celebrated at an inauguration ceremony with business partners, customers and Kathrein employees. The new office is part of a strategy to expand the company’s presence in regional markets.

Kathrein has opened a test environment for pioneering mobile network technologies at its headquarters in Rosenheim. It will be launched in collaboration with the Swedish communications corporation Ericsson. Kathrein will use the testbed to simulate novel applications in a trial network in order to gain valuable insights in the years to come. This will provide the basis for advancement of the current wireless communication standard LTE and the new standard 5G.

Kathrein Street Connect, an innovative solution for mobile communication, was honoured as “best new technology” at the RAN World 2016 in Düsseldorf. Kathrein developed the innovative system for mobile coverage in inner cities in collaboration with Swisscom, Switzerland’s leading telecom provider. Kathrein Street Connect is an in-ground antenna system that enhances mobile capacity at hotspots with high data traffic. In Switzerland, the antennas are already in operation in Bern, Zurich, Basel and Lausanne, and test series are being run in more countries.

Kathrein presents its innovative technical monitoring system for transmitters at the IBC in Amsterdam (Hall 8, Stand 8.C29). It will also be displaying a new generation of UHF antennas. The International Broadcasting Convention is one of the most important exhibitions in the world for film, radio and television. It takes place this year on 9-13 September.
